OK that title is only there for shock value but it is only partially true.
The article today is all about how the doctor you visit will now have the right to effectively take away your second amendment right, see below:
The Department of Health and Human Service’s “notice of proposed rule-making,” floated by the White House in a Friday media dump, would waive portions of the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to allow psychiatrists to report their patients to the FBI’s gun-ban blacklist (the NICS system) on the basis of confidential communications.
If you consider all the actions to try to find ways to limit gun rights you can see there is a systematic attack on the second amendment.
The federal government is trying to take away your gun rights (1) if you visit a shrink, (2) if you take medications for depression and sleep disorders, (3) if you violate the UN treaty on arms, etc etc etc.
The main reason we have the right to bear arms is to protect our families… to protect them against this kind of government control and tyranny. I understand that there are bad people who get guns and there are laws in place already to prevent them from getting them but what happens when you take the right to bear arms away completely? You get a society where only the criminals will have them because they do not care about the law. Do you think that removing the guns will solve societal woes? If you do you are sadly mistaken. Once the guns are gone, then the criminals (if they do not have guns; which they can get; believe me) will simply start using knives or bats or even HOME MADE GUNS . If no guns or knives then why not set someone on fire? There is no way to stop the violence by removing the tools because people will simply find more tools. The problem NO ONE seems to see is that this is fundamentally a societal failure NOT a gun failure or even gun possession failure.
Lets take the beating of Reginald Denny in 1992. There were no guns used to savagely beat Reginald. Criminals do not need guns to create mayhem. All they need is a mind-set. Do we need to control the mind?
The ONLY way to truly make a serious dent in the violence (and of course it will never be completely removed because there is always evil in the world) is to find a way to correct the breakdown in society and go back to traditional values. the reason gangs are so prevalent is because of the loss of the family values and structure… bring this back over time and you will see improvement. It is not an easy problem to solve but will take a seriously coordinated effort and in our world today with politicians bickering back and forth… we will probably never have that.
There is a reason that more than 300 law enforcement communities refuse to enforce gun control and also why many states are strengthening their gun rights laws. That reason is because when you have an armed society you have less crime because criminals do not want to try to attack you if they think you are armed.
A Colorado sheriff has joined the list of at least 340 sheriffs who have vowed to uphold the Constitution against gun-control measures that violate Americans’ Second Amendment rights.
Isn’t it obvious what is going on here? Do you see the danger in this? You have about 340 sheriffs and there departments that are not going to follow the ‘gun control ban’. Law enforcement officers that are not enforcing the law… I actually support them and cheer them but look at the place this is putting them all in? Look at the moral dilemma they face.
Lets take an example. Lets take one of the most prolific sheriffs in the nation, Sheriff Arpaio. His stance is really (truly) remarkable because he is simply upholding his oath that he took because he takes it very seriously. Here is what he said when asked:
“I took [multiple] oaths of office, and they all say I will defend the Constitution of the United States,” Arpaio told Mike Broomhead of KFYI Radio in Phoenix, Ariz. “Now if they’re going to tell the sheriff that he’s going to go around picking up guns from everybody, they’re going to have a problem. I may not enforce that federal law.”
Sheriff Arpaio has a very strong case because the constitution is the founding law and NO law made by any branch of government (yes I know only the legislative branch makes laws… but do they really?) OR any court ruling is supposed to contradict OR countermand the US Constitution. All of our laws are supposed to be founded on constitutional principles. The only way to remove guns from law-abiding citizens would be to repeal the second amendment.
Law-enforcement overwhelmingly support gun rights.
According to a PoliceOne.com survey, law enforcement around the country support the right of individuals to carry guns — and they back state “interposition” efforts to protect gun owners:
1. Cops back concealed carry. 91% of law-enforcement supports concealed carry of firearms by civilians who are not criminals and/or have not been deemed psychologically incapable.
2. Cops believe more guns equals less crime. 80% of police believe that legally armed citizens would likely have reduced the number of casualties in recent mass shooting incidents.
3. Cops support nullification of unconstitutional gun laws. 71% of officers say they will not enforce more restrictive gun laws within their jurisdictions.

One post on the PoliceOne survey results (linked above) that states EXACTLY how I feel about it. This post was by wasafuzz on Monday, August 19, 2013 07:48 PM Pacific and states:
Banning large capacity magazines and bringing back the assault weapon ban will not make any streets safer. It is all political hype that politicians spin with false fairy tales without even knowing what a real assault weapon is.
I grew up in New York City, guns were completely banned. My family did not own any but many criminals in my neighborhood back in the 60’s were committing very violent crimes with any guns they wanted, we were all helpless victims. I actually decided to become a cop because of the bad crime problem in my gun free neighborhood. There were countless NYPD shootings in the paper, I read the because I wanted to be a cop when I was there, all those shootings I am talking about were at the height of the Black Panthers who raged a street war against whites and white cops. I lived in 103rd pct. house Many of our closet friends and families were forced to move out to escape the violence, my family followed the trend and moved to Florida. When I arrived in that state it was run with a pro gun attitude and in early 70’s. So as a kid I started earning morning then bought guns which were tools, used by responsible people to hunt, target practice and rarely to protect yourself. owning guns. The moral of the story is that it s not the GUNS it is the PEOPLE who we allow out of prisons early, no mental care for them, The crazies, the racists, the gang wars, the gang robberies…….
You know what I say… “I’ll give you my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands“
