Why I worry about America.

I recently got a response from an email I sent to my entire contact list that included links to this and this.

I wanted to answer this email in my blog because I wanted everyone to hear my answer.  If you want to read the redacted email you can do so here.  NOW you have to understand that this email came from a liberal that I have bantered about with through the ages and he and I never see eye to eye.

Here is my response:

I have serious concerns about America because of many things including the economy and government spending, gun rights, political agendas and corrupt politicians, states’ rights, government transparency, ignorant populous, immigration, foreign aid {added 1/23/2014} and lack of respect for the constitution and flag.

Economy and Government Spending:

This government seems to think that spending us to a point of no return is the right answer.  They seem to think that government and money can solve everything.  Right now Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, Welfare, and Food Stamps are all failing.  The new deal has not produced results.  The poor keep getting poorer and the rich continue to get richer.  That is a fundamental fact of the free market system.  The problem is that the free market system does not account for lazy good for nothing free loaders.  It does not address people that simply do not care to work and rather get everything for free (of which liberals are doing just that).  I understand there are legitimate reasons for these social programs and I agree with that but not as a way to replace the free market.  Some people simply need to get off their ass and work.

Gun Rights:

This is simply a constitutional right that left wingers would love to take away.  I cannot say much more then I already have in this blog (here and here).  Simply put if you take guns away people will find another way to strike out because simply put… you cannot stop evil.  Some would say this is not intended to stop evil but to deter it, well nearly 400 sheriff’s across the United States disagree because they feel an armed citizen is a protected citizen.

Political Agendas and Corrupt Politicians:

Sadly in our country most politicians (republicans and democrats) are not trying to help you.  They are trying to help themselves or their interests.  They plan to line their pockets with your money and then give the rest to the poor.  For years the politicians have simply done things that help them extend their own agenda.  Supposedly, Clint Eastwood took the job as Mayor of Carmel because he wanted to get some zoning laws passed for his bar.  Clinton used his office to get a blow job.  Nixon used the IRS to take care of his ‘enemies’ and got caught (like Obama is doing now).  This is a bi-partisan issue for sure.  I have to think that most politicians get into office with the noblest of charges but somewhere along the way fall prey to money and power.  Even the new deal was known as a ponzi scheme on money but no one did anything about it because it was all wrapped up in a pretty “I want to feed the poor” bow.

States’ Rights:

Many states try and execute the rights granted them under the constitution but because of the convoluted way the interpretation of ‘states rights’ has evolved, many states no longer have those rights.  The federal government simply says ‘you will do it our way, or we will remove funding for project Y’.  This is the feds overstepping their bounds.  Let’s take Gay Rights.  I am a Christian and thus do not believe in homosexuality BUT I do not judge those that do NOR do I care if they want to practice it.  I do not believe in gay marriage as an institution, but I do not care if you get married to your same sex partner.  I also do not care if same sex partners get the same benefits of married couples.  The only thing I worry about here is where does it stop.  What I really hate about this topic is that this is a federal issue.  I get that many people want the federal government to swoop down and solve all their problems; however, some things are simply the right of the state to legislate or not.  The federal government should get out of the business of things that the states have a right to do and get back into the business of what they are charged with doing that is laid out in our founding documents.

Transparency in Government:

This is by far the funniest one of all.  Obama ran on the platform that he would run the most transparent white house of all time.  I cannot believe that there are many examples of the absence of transparency out there.  Benghazi is the first one that comes to mind for me.  HOW can anyone look objectively at this and NOT see the lies?  Hillary Clinton stated in open session the following:

“With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night decided to go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make?” Clinton asked the Republican Senator. “It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again.”

Well I answer to Hillary that it is very important.  It is important to the relatives and friends of those four dead hero’s.  It is important because her office (the office of the Secretary of State) refused security help when asked for.  It is important for many reasons.  It also shows that someone manipulated the evidence before an election to avoid slandering the presidents claim that al Qaeda is doomed.  On Nov. 1 in Green Bay, Wis., Obama said, “Thanks to sacrifice and service of our brave men and women in uniform, the war in Iraq is over, the war in Afghanistan is winding down, al Qaeda has been decimated, Osama bin Laden is dead”.  This is also a non bi-partisan issue but the level of lies that Obama (and his staff) have stooped to is more than I have ever seen in my lifetime.

Ignorant Populous:

This is really the icing on the cake.  I have watched countless ‘man on the street’ type interviews or questions and see that the people in this country are simply ignorant of how this country works.  They are also not willing to learn.  I have a quote on one of my blogs that I love because it speaks to this topic.  It is the Chuck Connors quote and it is so true.  The public not paying attention was the same reason the Roman Empire fell.  I am not saying everyone needs to have a PhD in Political Science or know everything about the candidates BUT I will say that people need to pay attention enough to make an informed vote.  Most people in this country do not have a clue.  They vote and who knows maybe they are not even voting for something they care about simply because they do not have enough facts.

I wrote a recent blog on how to solve the immigration problem that you really need to read.  I am not against immigration but the way our immigration policy has been mutilated over the years it really is not doing the immigrants any service.  I would argue it does them a great dis-service.  The biggest problems with uncontrolled immigration (open borders, etc) is that you are not only getting those families from Mexico that simply desire a new way of life but you are also getting terrorists that are bent on killing us, Mexican criminals that are spawning gang violence that spawns murders, and many other criminal elements that because the border is unsecure are coming across in hoards.  The Mexican government promotes this because they feel that they own California and Texas.

Foreign Aid {added 1/23/2014}:

I believe we should cut out foreign aid for ANY country based on a calculation.  This formula would take into account a human rights indicator (similar to ihrri.com), an immigration status indicator (I made one from the ‘Removed Population by Citizenship’ ICE statistics here on page 4), percentage of terror activities or support for activities, if they owe us any money and other percentage based indicators as would make sense.  I outline my method here (it only includes human rights and immigration violations but one could use the same method to calculate the value of other items).  Anyway, the spirit of the idea is that we should NOT be giving money (or equipment) for economic or military aid to any country that has ‘bad indicators’ such as a low human rights record.  You could cut them off completely until they bring their record up to a value at or higher then ours and then continue to give them money / equipment based on some formula percentage (like my example).

Lack of Respect for the Constitution and the Flag:

I have several pieces of evidence that really show how much the President and his wife have no respect for the constitution, flag, military and the people.  It is all over.  They try and hide it but one cannot ignore it if you simply look.  There are pictures of Obama not saluting the flag when others are, there are sound bites that catch the first lady insulting the flag, there are quotes that show that Obama does not respect the constitution, “reflected the fundamental flaw of this country that continues to this day” he also described it as having “deep flaws” (reference).  The reason that the constitution has lasted the test of time is because it has fundamental protections for all of us.  If we were to do away with the constitution that would mean true and total anarchy.  So many of our laws all over the country are founded on the constitutional foundations.  NOW the elitist are slowly eating away at the constitution anyway so doing away with it all together is not needed.  Hitler suspended the German constitution and look what it did for Germany.  I also do not understand why people cannot recognize that our country was founded on Christian values and the term “separation of church and state” was not intended to abolish prayer in school, ‘In God We Trust’ from money, etc.  To understand the real reason the phrase “separation of church and state” was coined, please read this article on Forbes.com by Bill Flax, Contributor.
